Meat Ride - Watertown, NY - July 20, 2012

Our Ride Captain enticed 13 riders on 10 bikes for a ride to Watertown, NY for a feast of meat at the Texas RoadHouse Restaurant. We all met at, where else, Tim Hortons in Ottawa south. It was a beautiful weather day for riding. Stu took us on a very scenic ride on the back roads via Kemptville,Spencerville and the Ogdensburg bridge to New York state. After we cleared customs, we stopped at the Ogdensburg Walmart for refreshments and a bio break. We parked next to the special parking spots for the local Amish community which were reserved for horse and buggies only.

Putting our stuff back together after the customs stop.

I don't think the horse understood French. Note: The little boy in the Buggy.

We then proceeded through the country side to Watertown where we feasted on what the Texans eat. The food and service were very good and we spent a couple of leisurely hours eating and telling war stories.

This is where they keep the meat.

We crossed the 1000 Islands Bridge into Ontario and took the scenic 1000 Islands Parkway until it ended on Hwy 401. We planned to return to Ottawa prior to nightfall, however we took a detour to Timmies in Brockville where we depleted the Chapter gift card on refreshments. After more tall tales, we returned to the Ottawa area via the 401,416 and 417.

One more stop at Timmies (established in 1964)

Believe it or not we did not have any ice cream. We should be able to make up for that over site on our next ride. We spent approximately 10 hrs and over 400 K along the way.
