North East Conference (NEC) Spring Conference - Bangor Maine, 11/13 MAY 2012

The President and Vice President and his wife represented Ontario II at the NEC Spring Conference in Bangor, Maine. The weather was so cold and wet along the route, we had to postpone our Ottawa departure and do the trip in a single day on the following day. The weather was mostly dry but cool and it took us 12 hours to reach Bangor.

We arrived in time for the Friday evening hospitality and meeting the other attendees. After the business meeting, we took a ride on sunny Saturday to The Blue Knight's International HQ in Bangor.

A Knight with a Knight

After visiting the BK HQ, we rode to Bar Harbour with a stop for ice cream along the way. After some shopping along the main street and a view of the Harbour, we returned to the hotel for the banquet.

Bar Harbour

The return was over two days. We drove south to the scenic Atlantic coastal town of Booth Bay Harbour. We continued north east to Conway, NH which is famous for their outlet stores. After dinner there, we made a brisk crossing over the 35 mile (elevation of nearly 3000 feet) Kancamangus Pass. We arrived in Lincoln, NH and stayed the night. The weather was decent during the day.

The next morning, a weather check on the internet indicated rain was coming from the south east but with an early start, we could depart the area prior to the rain. After packing, I opened the door to discover it was raining. Perhaps just opening the curtains would have been faster and more accurate. We were able to ride out of the light rain in a couple of hours and arrived in Ottawa safely. It was a 1909 K ride.
